Is it only me, or are others maybe also pissed about DA’s inaptitude when it comes to the services offered on their website?
I am not very active over here, but as things are, I don’t even feel like making use of this site regularly. Every time I click on one of the features, DA tells me that this or that is currently not available, and that I should please try again in a few minutes.
I mean… it’s ok if something like that happens every now and then, but it’s every friggin day!
Things like that piss me off no end, and I feel really sorry for all those who have a paid account over here.
Examples:
Wanted to view an image, clicked on the link: page timed out. This happens several times a day, and I had to refresh the page repeatedly to be able to view images in full view. (This happens at DA only! And I have high-speed connection and lots of cache space.)
Wanted to upload my desktop screenshot: service unavailable for almost one and a half weeks despite the fact that several people had complained about it repeatedly. I finally got to upload it yesterday.
Wanted to look for images by browsing the categories: service unavailable. DA was in read mode… yet again.
This is only a tiny fraction of what has happened to me ever since joining. Why the hell would I want a paid account here, if the free one is already this fucked up? I very much doubt that the services for the individual subscription accounts differ (except for the ‘special features’ people pay for, of course.)
But if the basic features work for paid members only – and I doubt this – then DA would be a big time shitty website.
Other than that, it’s shitty… as of now anyway.
After having read their FAQs, I am certain that they know about this problem. They have a whole category and lists with answers to problems like this. Obviously, people have been complaining about these bugs for quite a while now. The bad thing is that DA – being the biggest artwork hosting site I know of – seems too inept to get this site to work as it should.
They fix one thing, then release a new feature, and then there’s two new bugs in the site which will need fixing.
Ever heard of beta-testing?!?!?! Even if you have two different teams working on this site – one for bringing out new features, and one to fix the things that aren’t working – I think it should be possible to keep this site working at 98% instead of at 89%, if you’d only cooperate a little better, and if your release team would test their features before putting them to action.
It would save the fix-team a lot of time, and save the users’ patience.
